I completed the graduate program at the College at Brockport in Counseling Education. I have had experience interning at the Brockport Counseling Center with college students, as well as a yearlong internship at Penfield High School. While at Penfield I assisted with college preparatory classes and have had the chance to visit several colleges in order to gain more understanding on the admission process. I met weekly with students to support their emotional needs and have dealt with issues related to body image, self-mutilation, drug and alcohol abuse, and cultural barriers. I also covered a maternity leave at Aquinas Institute and worked with a caseload of over 200 students grades 9th-12th. I completed four- year plans with the freshman students and discussed college options with the juniors. I also assisted with sophmore mock interviews. I have worked with school-aged children ranging from preschool to eighth grade for several years and have bridged communication between families and clinicians. I believe I have a lot to offer a school district and I am eager to continue developing these skills. A past accomplishment is that I won for best poster board presentation on my thesis topic, “School Counselors Preparing Teachers for Responding to Students in Crisis” at the Westerns New York School Counselor Consortium (WNYSCC) Conference 2013. I am also volunteering in the Fall with several College Fairs. I would love the opportunity to be a school counselor and I only hope that I can find a district that is willing to pursue this goal with me. Rochester City School District
