Rebecca Gray’s Expertise A broadly trained research practitioner, my work has centred on client perceptions of therapeutic services. I specialise in studies that inform programs for marginalised and disenfranchised client communites, with a preference for qualitative and sensitive research models. Originally an English Literature graduate (BA Hons), I specialised in Literary Theory (University of Salford UK) and then Critical Theory (Masters at University of Nottingham UK). When I moved to Australia in 2001, I trained as a counsellor and group worker, and due to my professional experiences at a Women's Dual Diagnosis AOD Residential Rehab, I undertook a PhD on shame and stigma at the Centre for Social Research in Health (UNSW). While at the centre, I assisted on qualitative health projects, including Hep C risk management and Aboriginal Patterns of Health Care in New South Wales. At Relationships Australia (NSW), I conducted evaluations of domestic violence programs, research to inform client engagement strategies, and investigations to ascertain levels of client outcomes and impact. I was voted Employee of the Year in 2014, due to my success in integrating research findings in to practice, and for engaging the workforce in this process. And in 2017, I was awarded the Inaugural Reconciliation in Action Award at Relationships Australia NSW for my work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and communities. An award I was particularly honored to receive. During this time, I was also an Honorary Associate of the Schools of Psychology at both the University of Sydney (2014), and the University of Technology, Sydney (2016), where I supervised doctoral students. I have held advisory and consultative positions at various non-government organisations. I currently provide input on the Trans Vitality reference group at ACON.
