Richie Farrell’s Expertise Short bio// Richard Farrell received his B.Sc. and D. Phil. degrees in Materials Chemistry from University College Cork, Ireland in 2002 and 2007 respectively. He spent the next decade working in the semiconductor industry in both foundry and vendor roles primarily focused on advanced patterning. In 2019, he began working on Augmented Reality (AR) at Facebook Reality Labs. He has authored/co-authored > 30 peer reviewed research papers in reputable international journals and conferences, holds >20 United States Patents, has 1400+ citations and a H-index >20. From 2014 to 2019, he worked for Tokyo Electron Limited (TEL) at their US Research & Development Center located in Albany, New York (TEL Technology Center America) focusing on designing and implementing new hardware and innovative process technologies for complex lithography and patterning applications. Prior to joining Tokyo Electron, he was a Principal Research Engineer within the Emerging Lithography and Tools team, part of the Strategic Lithography Technology department at GLOBALFOUNDRIES INC from 2011 to 2014. In this role, he was responsible for defining GLOBALFOUNDRIES roadmap for directed self-assembly (DSA) and developing efficient patterning techniques with existing patterning technologies. From 2009 to 2011, Richard was a postdoctoral research associate at UCLA working on magneto-electric applications for self-assembled materials. Richard also worked at Intel Corporation from 2006-2007 specializing on self-assembly techniques for semiconductor manufacturing.
