Ronald Ruth’s Expertise Ronald Ruth, Ph.D. is an emeritus professor at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory at Stanford. He is past Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors at Lyncean Technologies, Inc. He has been active in beam dynamics and particle accelerator research for the past 40 years. He led the accelerator physics department at SLAC for a period of 16 years extending throughout the 1990's to 2006. During the mid 1990's he led the development of the Next Linear Collider Test Accelerator at SLAC, a test bed for x-band acceleration technology for future high-energy accelerators. His research at SLAC focused on the development of new concepts for particle acceleration and beam manipulation for application to both high-energy accelerators and free-electron lasers. Lyncean Technologies, Inc. was founded to develop the Compact Light Source by Prof. Ruth, Jeff Rifkin and Dr. Rod Loewen in 2002. The concept for the Compact Light Source is a spin off from basic research performed at SLAC by Professor Ruth and Professor Zhirong Huang into an electron beam cooling mechanism called radiative laser cooling. Professor Ruth has been on review committees for many national laboratories. He is a fellow of the American Physical Society and is a former member of the Council of the American Physical Society.
