Ruth Hazleton’s Expertise I am an award-winning independent musician and researcher with a consuming passion for Australian independent music, Australian folklife (culture and tradition), oral history, and intangible cultural heritage. I currently work professionally as an independent performing and recording artist and oral history and folklore interviewer for the National Library of Australia (A Hidden Culture). I am a current member of the Australian Children’s Folklore Collection Reference Committee (Museums Victoria) and a member of the Federal Council, Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance (MEAA). In 2021 I was awarded Artist of the Year (Solo) at the inaugural Australian Folk Music Awards. I hold a Graduate Diploma in Australian Folklife (Curtin University, 2009). Since graduation, I have continued to participate in various research projects and contribute to academic discourse on a voluntary and independent basis, specialising in children’s culture and tradition.
