Scott Harrison’s Expertise I understands the importance of sun safety in Australia, being skin cancer survivor back in 2015. Throughout my career, I have developed strategic and operational plans that map out the water and sun safety programs roll out around Queensland Schools and other communities. These programs aim to enrich community life, promote community safety, and strengthen social and neighbourhood connections. Also working closely with community groups, not-for-profit organisations, government stakeholders and individual members of the public to achieve these objectives. Through award winning programs Little Life Savers, On the Same Wave, Beach Safe and Beach 2 Bush, I have delivered over 3000 water and sun safety classroom-based presentations and beach excursion programs to multicultural, Indigenous, school, regional and community groups with a reach of over 1.2 million people. On top of delivering holiday programs with City of Gold Coast as part of their Get Active, Get Healthy initiative and established a program model that is recognised nationally as a best practice program in its field. In 2011, I was recognised for his work leading the On the Same Wave program by receiving the Minister’s Award for Multicultural Affairs and National Safer Communities Award From 2014-2018 I volunteered on the Police Multicultural Safety Advisory Committee, fostering communication, cooperation and understanding within Multicultural communities and support people with vital water and sun safety initiatives especially from CALD backgrounds and regional centres. In 2017, I had the honour of being selected to be part of the Queensland Government’s Inaugural Multicultural Ambassadors Program, and in 2018 was rewarded for my work within communities by being announced as one of the Pro Bono Australia Impact 25 most influential people in the Australian social sector National Zinc Day targets every Australian, in every state, in every community, in every family to help reduce the skin cancer rates in our country We are inviting everyone across Australia to get your zinc on to raise awareness for skin cancer and sun protection Yours in Sun Safety
