  I am a Structural Geologist with a specific interest in the fields of Neotectonics and Paleoseismology. Much of my past and current research revolves around identifying and examining the wealth of previously unknown and poorly studied faults and related Quaternary deformation in the Alaska Range. In the Pacific Northwest, I have worked on both the very well-defined active normal faults in central Oregon as well as the poorly expressed and elusive Quaternary deformation in the northern Willamette Valley and Coast Range. Primary interests lie in characterizing active faults using multiple tools (paleoseismic trenching, surveying, high-resolution imaging, geophysical techniques) for use in seismic hazards assessment and application to the understanding of earthquake processes and the development of fault systems.
