Stephen Yun’s Expertise After graduating from Boston University, Steve started working for Aerodyne Research, Advanced Systems Group, as a subject-matter expert (SME) in thermal, propulsion, aerodynamic and UV/EO/IR signature technology. While performing his R&D duties, he co-authored current, official government IR-application software, SPIRITS. He performed SPIRITS data analyses on many military assets, including fighters, bombers, cargo aircrafts, strategic & tactical missiles, and ground vehicles. In 1994, Steve came to Boeing Philadelphia to serve as a Technical Lead on Advanced Rotorcraft programs and as the IR Lead on the RAH-66 Comanche Program. In 1999, he led the Comanche IR flight testing critical to winning the Engineering & Manufacturing Development program. In 2001, Steve moved to So. California (SoCal) to serve as a Boeing Chief Engineer for proprietary programs. His efforts in development, integration & flight testing of key technologies were instrumental to the success of these programs. In 2007, as a SoCal Site Lead he led Phantom Works proprietary programs. In 2014, he served as a Technology Integration focal for the Advanced Concepts organization under the Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) Product Development (PD) group. In 2020, he was asked to support the Army FLRAA program serving as a Boeing focal for the engine IR suppressor design, analysis, and testing. In 2021, he served as a Payload Lead on a proprietary space program. Since 2023, he is serving as a Lead on USAF E-7A Infrared signature generation.
