Steve Fox’s Expertise WHAT PROBLEM DO I SOLVE: Big data engineering and associated processes to derive business value for clients WHO DO I HELP: Clients running in AWS trying to get a handle on the massive amount of data their applications are generating. WHY I AM GOOD AT IT: 20+ years in the software arena architecting and building software solutions and a specific passion for solving optimization problems WHY DO I DO WHAT I DO: I love technology, and software in particular. It is revolutionalizing complete industries. As a culture we take it for granted now. Our 3-year-old laptop is “slow” because it is “only” 2 GHz, so it is “only” doing about 14 billion instructions per second! That kind of computational power would have changed the outcome of world wars just a couple of generations ago! It is this underlying computational power, and its constant march forward thanks to Moore’s Law that fuels the “magic” of software. What was an impractical architecture just 10 years ago is now cutting edge and solving new problems. It also empowers speed of innovation. The time to go from idea to a working implementation has never been faster. What would have taken me a team of 25 engineers working 12-16 months to build 15 years ago can be done today in a few weeks by a skilled small team. That’s amazing, empowering, and democratizing innovation. And it is changing our world. The top 3 largest companies today by market cap are all technology/software driven (Apple, Google, Microsoft) and 5 of the top 6 (adds in Amazon and Facebook). Snowflake's recent IPO broke records for valuations. Software truly is eating the world! We are in the midst of a technological revolution of a magnitude never seen before, and I am excited to help people take full advantage of rapidly changing cloud technology in their business.
