Steve Whan’s Expertise Since being made redundant I have re sat my cert IV in WHS ( 2017)and have now completed my Diploma in WHS (May 2018). This has been very refreshing as I had not completed any studies in my field for some years and allows me to be more current with the Acts and Regs involved in WHS. I am very much a hands on safety professional that strives to make the job as safe as possible whilst at the same time listening to my people in the field to allow them to drive the safety culture to a point where they are the owners of it. My goals are the same as any safety professional and that is to ensure that every single worker goes home the same way they arrived. My other goal is to make safety a way of life for our people and not just a compliance issue for them. It is so refreshing to finish a major contract recently with zero LTI's and although this is an achievement in itself, the real aim is to achieve zero injuries and i will continue to strive to achieve this.
