Steven Nichols’s Expertise I am a lifelong learner If I'm interested in a skill or subject, I'll probably try to master it. Woodworking, welding, guitar building, CAD and plumbing are the most recent areas of interest for me. I also love explaining things, but the challenge is to explain them simply so that almost anyone can understand them. This passion has steered me to spend most of my life as a teacher. And it's not rooted in desiring to be the center of attention; it's actually quite the opposite. I want to engage students to think about how how science and technology connect to the various parts of their lives - sports, Digital Citizenship, media arts, health. I think of myself as the guide who holds the lantern while the students navigate the path (think of the Stairway to Heaven image on LZ's album and you get the idea). I have always thrived at careers that utilized my creativity (lateral thinking) coupled with my mechanical aptitude and physics/engineering background, whether it be as a field engineer, R&D scientist or an educator.
