Hi my name is Steve and I am a Kinesiologist who specialized in the area of early and safe return to work planning and have assisted hundreds of people in their goal of returning to work following injury and/or illness and resume a sense of normalcy in their lives. My interest in occupational illness began after taking a fourth year Ergonomics course while completing my Kinesiology degree. I thought to myself “why do we have workplace injuries at all when we have predictive tools such as the Niosh lifting equation that organizations could utilize to forecast said scenarios?”. Following graduation, I pursued further education on the topic enrolling in professional development courses in return to work planning and ergonomics. My travels led me to Calgary where I landed a job as a Return to Work Coordinator and had the opportunity to visit hundreds of workplaces to see what people do, what tools and/or equipment they use and how our team was going to get them back to their full position. With every assessment I completed, I saw the various reasons why these injuries occur and felt compelled to put myself in a position where I could proactively do something about it. This passion led me to completing my certification in Occupational Health and Safety through the University of Alberta. So whether it be managing an existing claim, or brainstorming ways to eliminate or minimize exposure to a hazard in the workplace, I would welcome any opportunity to assist you and your organization today.
