  Growing up I was lucky enough to gain a variety of work experience doing different jobs for family and friends. Once I left school I continued to grow whilst working in the Eliott Hotel. This was part of a year course I completed which also gave me a number of qualifications. After this, I took a year out and travelled the UK a bit. This also helped me to mature and learn different skills I may not have been able to in Gibraltar. When I returned to Gibraltar I took up employment in the Ministry of Defence as an Administrative Officer. During that time I was able to do a number of courses which helped me broaden my knowledge. Soon after I got married and decided to try Policing. I spend just under 15 years in the Gibraltar Defence Police in various different roles. I learnt a great deal working alongside some veteran officers and continued to attend a variety of courses to broaden my horizons. Sadly I had some health issues and was given medical retirement in 2016. I had some time off and came back to part-time work with Piranha Designs and then full-time as the Office Manager at the GFSB. For more than 15 years I have also played a very active role in various charities, most notably for the work with the Gibraltar Dyslexia Support Group and was awarded the Mayor's Award 2021. At the GFSB I reported to the Board of Directors but largely run the GFSB on a day-to-day basis. As Office Manager, I dealt with much more than just the office. I managed all the GFSB’s events, policies, membership and much more. It is a leadership role which serves over 300 businesses. Some duties would be: Dealing with queries and liaising with members, Managing social media sites and website updates, First point of contact for all members, suppliers and GoG Departments and numerous boards, working groups and committees. Whilst a the GFSB I worked on the inception of the Business Improvement District (BID), which was a bold and exciting project. I felt that it was a project I wanted to be more involved with and applied for the Project Head's job. I was successful and lead that until the board (due to circumstances out of our hands) decided to close it. All of my work experience together with my charity work has given me a wide range of skills and experiences. I am a cheerful, tolerant, friendly and patient person, a good communicator and an excellent team player. I have excellent time and management skills, am a good problem solver and love to implement new ideas. Octopus International Business Services
