Thomas Yip’s Expertise An experienced Tunnel Engineer with over 24 years experience in underground construction. Thomas has played a key role in delivery of the design and construction for the most successful tunnel projects in Hong Kong such as Subsea Tunnel Section of Trunk Rosd T2, Subsea Tunnel Section of Hong Kong – Zhuhai – Macao Bridge Link Road, Hong Kong West Drainage Tunnel and Strategic Sewage Disposal Scheme, Ting Kau and Sham Tseng Sewerage Scheme and Kai Tak Transfer Scheme. Extensive experience working with both the Contractor’s and Consultant’s organisations, thereby developing a hands-on approach to problem solving on site and valuable experience in the use of both, formal and informal, partnering to achieve successful project completion. This experience has been gained across the full range of tunnelling and shaft-sinking techniques on major projects in hard, mixed and soft ground conditions. Projects have involved the use of hard rock, slurry, double shield, open-shield and pipe-jacking, tunnel boring machines (TBM) and raise-boring methodology.
