Tim Skinner’s Expertise A resourceful jack of all trades System Administrator with over 10 years experience with virtualization, security and automation. I have managed all aspects of system administration in challenging heterogeneous environments consisting of Linux, FreeBSD, Mac OS X, Windows Server 2008 and 2012, and Solaris systems. Until recently I was the sole systems administrator at Deep Web Technologies from its time as a startup through its growth to a mature company. I grew the companies IT infrastructure from a random assortment of services on disparate inadequate hardware to a robust, highly available, fully automated private cloud supporting over 100 clients federated search portals to 4000+ unique sources. Along with providing support for all of DWT's hardware and internal company services I worked closely with several clients, including DOE Office of Scientific and Technical Information, USDA National Agricultural Library, Boeing, Intel, BASF, Stanford University, and University of the Arts London to set up the required environment and install and maintain the Explorit product on their servers. Colleagues know me as a motivated and resourceful problem solver with the vision to see the big picture, new opportunities and new applications for products as well as the focus to solve the details. I was known as the jack of all trades engineer who could repair anything from fixing coworkers cars, to recovering data from failed hardware and repairing motherboards, to reverse engineering malware that infected a Tokyo tyrant server and finding bugs in undocumented legacy code, to rewiring data lines the office, to developing a fully functioning web services client in a programming language I'd never used in 5 days to test integration with an important customer, I could get it done. I graduated with a BS in Computer Science and a Minor in Literature from New Mexico Tech where I focused on information assurance, computer security and ad-hoc sensor networks.
