I thought that was a no brainer---I borrowed 500 dollars from my parents (my first raise :)) and bought something like 12 cases of toilet bowl cleaners. I started going door to door and selling them. That 500 investment netted me 1,000 and for a 9 yr old that was a lot of money. After that I did a lot of the usual lawn mowing and flipping (buying/selling) BMX bikes and parts---at one point I tried flipping unwanted band equipment and fishing lures but, nothing became a break out success. My second entry into the business world was in college. I got into UCSD and needed to pay tuition. I used my student aid to buy used paint equipment and again went door to door offering free estimates. My first summer I had 10 employees, did 80,000 in sales and was making about 10,000 a month. Those experiences created a lens that has shaped my world view ever since. I have since gone on to do ventures in technology, construction, software, and finance.
