Utpal Saha’s Expertise My motivation is to impact human lives by solving real-life problems by using my knowledge of science, engineering, and data analysis. While working on different projects for various applications during my Ph.D. and MS in electrical engineering, I have gathered extensive experience in process engineering, micro/nanofabrication in cleanroom, manufacturing, instrumentation/equipment design, development, experimentation, characterization, maintenance/troubleshooting, data analysis, extensive collaboration/teamwork. I have hands-on experience in owning, maintaining, and troubleshooting optoelectronic systems (laser, photomultiplier tubes, optical microscopes, LabVIEW hardware, high voltage amplifier, etc.), spin coater, Oxygen plasma, and hot plates. As far as process development is concerned, I have developed a process to fabricate electrodes with high yield using metal alloys in a BioMEMS chip which is 11 times cheaper than what is conventionally used. In addition, I am also experienced in additive (3D printing stereolithography ) and subtractive manufacturing (laser cutter, knife plotter) for rapid micromolding resulting in a very effective chip manufacturing process. BioMEMS chip fabrication involves designing and fabricating novel photomask, photolithography characterization, and soft lithography. The experimentation involves optoelectronic instrumentation integrating mechanical, optical, electrical, microfluidic, and graphical coding. I have extensively used Python, Matlab, and Excel for data analysis in all my projects. During my MS, I have worked with semiconductor devices and materials that include fabricating porous silicon to reduce its reflection loss and increase energy-storage capacity. I have gained extensive experience in semiconductor fabrication and nanoscale imaging using SEM, Raman spectroscopy, Electrochemical spectroscopy, etc. Throughout these different projects in my Ph.D. and MS, I collaborated with multiple groups inside and outside of research labs which makes me an effective team player. I strongly value team culture, and I think my experiences working with different teams would help me to be a cultural fit in any group. I think I can make a significant contribution to any industry by being an independent and collaborative problem solver.
