  After years of working in many corners of the vast Communication Landscape I find myself giving advice to the next generation of communicators. My bachelor's degree is in journalism, and I feel quite comfortable telling stories in a variety of formats. Since graduating I have worked on a few different documentary films that have been produced locally and shown nationally. In the spring of 2013 I completed a M.Ed. in Student Affairs with the Educational Leadership & Policy department at the University of Utah. Specifically my research focused on the changing role of the collegiate press and how student affairs professionals can engage their campus newsrooms. My course work centered around higher ed administration and included topics such as assessment, leadership, governance, interventions, retention, and diversity. I have the practical tools and theoretical background to feel comfortable tackling the sticky situations and challenging opportunities one finds in the university environment. I would like to continue to progress in the field of higher education with a focus on increasing student involvement, retention and success by designing and maintaining programming that engages. My ideal job would allow me to spread my attention over a wide swath of campus, while maintaining a strong connection to the faculty members and students that inspire me.
