Ying Xu’s Expertise I am a computational systems biologist with a strong passion for cancer research. My current research interests include: (1) non-genetic drivers of cancer development; (2) cancer metabolic reprogramming; and (3) modeling of cancer evolution. My original training was in computer science and combinatorial optimization. I have been doing bioinformatics research since 1993 and have been focused on cancer research since 2007. I have trained 38 postdoctoral fellows and 20+ PhD students since I have had my independent lab in 1995, majority of whom hold faculty positions in the US, Europe, China and South Korea. I have published over 350 papers and five books, including one of the first monographs on cancer bioinformatics (Springer, 2014); and have given over 250 invited talks.
